When treating the shoulder, it can be overwhelming to determine the right treatment. Having a systematic approach to collecting and synthesizing information to determine the appropriate interventions and vigor of interventions is helpful. In this microlearning course, we’ll look at a patient case to introduce the Staged Approach for Rehabilitation Classification of the Shoulder, or the STAR-Shoulder. This classification incorporates the patient’s pathoanatomical diagnosis, impairments, and irritability into the determination of intervention.
